Sony weigert gehackte PS3 toegang tot PlayStation Network

Sony begint zich steeds meer te wapenen tegen de recente hack die hun console, de PlayStation 3, momenteel teistert. In een officieel bericht op PlayStation Blog heeft Sony gezegd dat gebruikers van illegale hard- en/of software direct en permanent worden afgesloten van PlayStation Network.

In strenge juristentaal wordt men op de hoogte gesteld van de consequenties van het gebruik van de hack, en stelt eigenaars voor om direct alle illegale onderdelen van hun console te verwijderen om te voorkomen dat Sony ze afsluit van de internetservice. Ook wijzen ze erop dat spelers hun garantie verliezen als ze gebruik maken van materiaal wat Sony heeft bestempeld als illegaal. Het officiële bericht:

"Unauthorised circumvention devices for the PlayStation 3 system have been recently released by hackers.

These devices permit the use of unauthorized or pirated software. Use of such devices or software violates the terms of the "System Software License Agreement for the PlayStation 3 System" and the "Terms of Services and User Agreement" for the PlayStation Network/Qriocity and its Community Code of Conduct provisions.

Violation of the System Software Licence Agreement for the PlayStation 3 System invalidates the consumer guarantee for that system. In addition, copying or playing pirated software is a violation of International Copyright Laws.

Consumers using circumvention devices or running unauthorized or pirated software will have access to the PlayStation Network and access to Qriocity services through PlayStation 3 System terminated permanently.

To avoid this, consumers must immediately cease use and remove all circumvention devices and delete all unauthorised or pirated software from their PlayStation 3 systems."

Of Sony überhaupt kan zien of je illegale software op je PlayStation 3 hebt staan, is onbekend. Daarnaast werd door Blogbeheerder James Gallagher, gauw de angel uit het bericht gehaald door te zeggen dat Sony de eerlijke spelers, die niets te vrezen hebben volgens hem, wil beschermen tegen spelhacks en cheaters.
