Weer rumble SIXAXIS geruchten

De geruchten worden steeds hardnekkiger, maar het begint er nu echt op te lijken dat Sony een nieuwe SIXAXIS controller uit zal gaan brengen met rumble functies, maar ook met 'touch sensitivity' in de analoge sticks.

Enige tijd geleden zei Immersion's CEO Victor Viegas nog het volgende over de rumble technologie: "We are pleased to have put this litigation behind us. Our new business agreement with Sony Computer Entertainment is specifically intended to enable advanced vibration capability for the benefit of the PlayStation gaming community. We are happy to provide our technology in this regard and hope to make technical proposals very soon with respect to use of our technology in the PlayStation products."

Het lijkt er dus op alsof er een nieuwe SIXAXIS controller gaat komen met niet alleen de rumble zoals we bekend zijn uit het PlayStation 1 tijdperk, maar ook met subtiele rumble die gevoeld kan worden door de analoge sticks. De verwachting is dat deze nieuwe controller niet veel meer dan de oude controller zal gaan kosten; het motortje in de controller is goedkoper om te bouwen dan eerdere rumble motortjes in controllers.
