Eerdere opmerkingen Gates over Halo 3 slechts "filosofisch"

Weet je het nog? In mei van dit jaar berichtten we dat Bill Gates had gezegd dat Halo 3 tegelijk met de PS3 gereleased zou worden. Robbie Bach, voorzitter van Microsoft Xbox Entertainment and devices division, zegt nu dat deze uitspraken niet letterlijk genomen moeten worden, maar dat ze slecht "filosofisch" waren. Dit zegt hij in een interview met Infoworld.com. Volgens Bach zou Gates Halo hebben gebruikt als metafoor voor alle Xbox 360 titels, om te laten zien dat Microsoft zou toeslaan bij de release van de PS3.

Philosophically, the point Bill was trying to make is that we're not just going to ship and not have great stuff coming up. We don't know when Sony will ship PS3. They've said spring ... What we do know is that the way our portfolio lines up we're going to have great exclusive content. Halo is something we'll ship when it's ready.

In hetzelfde interview zegt Bach ook dat de beslissing voor de optionele harde schijf in de 360 is genomen door bezorgdheid over de prijs in de Europese markt.

It's particularly important in Europe where parts of Europe are very price sensitive and the channels where games consoles are sold are predominantly mass merchants which again are very price sensitive... One size doesn't fit all.
[...]"
