Total War-game is een mogelijkheid op next-gen consoles
De Total War-games behoren zonder twijfel bij de populairste games op pc, en zal daarnaast binnenkort verschijnen op diverse smartphones en tablets. Tot op heden is er geen Total War-game op de consoles verschenen en zal dat waarschijnlijk ook niet gaan gebeuren.
Mike Simpson, directeur van Creative Assembly laat weten dat de huidige generatie consoles niet krachtig genoeg zijn om een Total War-game te tonen. Daarbij is het wel mogelijk dat Creative Assembly met een Total War-game komt op de nieuwe generatie consoles.
“The current generation of consoles just can’t cope – they don’t have enough memory, by a large factor. Those technical reasons are probably the only reasons. A lot of people think that UI’s a problem, because no one’s really done it well before. I don’t think that’s a fundamental thing – I just think it’s simply that no one’s really done it very well before. A lot of the games have been ports of PC games without too much thought having gone into it”, aldus Mike Simpson.
Daarnaast geeft Simpson aan dat mocht de serie naar de nieuwe generatie komen, het wel een stuk anders zal zijn dan op pc. Het zal hierbij kleinschaliger zijn, zodat je niet uren bezig bent met een gamesessie. “You don’t sit down for four or five hours at a time, generally. It’s much smaller play sessions, but we do have some very clever ideas in the pipeline for things we could do to make that happen", aldus Mike Simpson.
