"CoD Elite treurig en erg vreemd"
Activision komt met Call of Duty Elite. Met deze service kunnen Call of Duty-fans nog meer uit hun game halen. Er zullen gratis aspecten en betaalde functies in de service te krijgen zijn. De lead designer van Blacklight: Retribution vraagt zich echter af of de service de serie wel ten goede komt en noemt deze 'sad' en 'very weird'.
Jared Gerritzen heeft in een interview gezegd dat hij vindt dat de Call of Duty-games erg toffe games zijn, maar vraagt zich af of het geld wat met de service verdiend gaat worden wel gebruikt gaat worden voor een verbetering van de serie. Hij vindt dat Activision de serie enorm uitmelkt en vindt dat erg jammer.
"They're amazing games but looking across the last four games, was there anything really new? That's the sad part. Think about if they tried to spend that money that they're trying to milk from the fans. It's sad. It's really weird. But there's always going to be that guy; there's always going to be the jerk."
Volgens Gerritzen ziet Activision de gigantische fanbase van de Call of Duty-franchise en zien ze geen reden om meer geld uit te geven om de serie verder te evolueren.
"I don't agree with it. Right now, if they could, they'd charge 60 buck, then 20 bucks a month for a map pack -- or even just one map -- and then $9 to upload game movies to YouTube,"
