'Mario Kart DS beter dan Super Mario Kart'

Hideko Konno, producer van oa Mario Kart DS vindt de DS versie beter dan de Super Nintendo versie. De SNES versie is de meest legendarische uit de serie, dus dat belooft wat:

If you look at the volume of Mario Kart DS, in every aspect of the game... I think we've done it. We've surpassed Super Mario Kart
[...]"

Konno had ook nog wat andere dingen te vertellen over MK: DS. Zo zul je bijvoorbeeld tot maximaal drie sterren achter je (online) nick kunnen krijgen als je een aantal ghosts in de time trial verslaat. Bovendien had hij nog een tip voor iedereen:
