Mike Singleton overleden

Mike Singleton, één van de pioniers van de Britse gamingindustrie, is afgelopen week op 61-jarige leeftijd overleden ten gevolge van kanker. Singleton was in de jaren tachtig bekend om games zoals Carrier Command, Lords of Midnight en Midwinter.

Daarnaast heeft de ontwikkelaar vele games gemaakt voor systemen zoals de Sinclair ZX81, BBC Micro, Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, Atari ST, Amiga en pc. De laatste game waar Singleton aan gewerkt heeft is GRID in 2009. Een ontwikkelaar die Singleton van dichtbij kende heeft het volgende op het Giantbomb-forum geplaatst.

"Singleton was my first employer, I used to go straight from school to his company for his wisdom and generosity, He was an amazing boss, single father of two young boys but most importantly he was my friend".

"The last 12 months where hard for him he was diagnosed with cancer of the jaw and had to have it removed but he always kept his spirits up, I even sat with him in our local pub for our first post-op beer! Alas last week he died in Switzerland of natural causes."
