The Last of Us doet blik op helden veranderen

Troy Baker, stemacteur in bekende games zoals Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII-2 en Bioshock Infinite, doet ook de stem van Joel, één van de hoofdpersonen in The Last of Us. In een interview heeft Baker aangegeven dat Joel het hele model van 'helden' in games zal doen veranderen.

Joel is namelijk geen held of een heel cool personage. Joel is namelijk een gewoon iemand die moet overleven. Hij zal moeten stelen en moeten vechten maar hij doet dit niet omdat het bij een groter plan hoort, het is om te overleven.

"Joel is a survivor. He's not a hero, he's not a badass. He's a guy that learned how to use a gun because he had to, and he's fighting every day because that's what you do. Does that mean that he steals this, that he does this? Maybe. But it's not that he has a plan, or that he's a strong archetypal character. I really think it's gonna turn the model of the hero on its ass", aldus Troy Baker over Joel.
