[Update] Nintendo: Geen Holocaust op de DS
Luc Bernard heeft ondertussen gereageerd op de hele ophef rondom Imagination is the Only Escape. Hij zegt dat de game nog getoond moet worden aan Nintendo en denkt dat Nintendo dus enkel bang is dat de game onverantwoordelijk zal zijn. Verder weet Bernard te melden dat de game niet geband zal worden, omdat het om een informatieve en geweldloze game gaat, waarvan de opbrengst direct naar Darfur gaat.
that is why however I would like to say, that I don't think the game will be banned, once I have time to talk to Nintendo myself and show them the game they will change their mind.
ALten8 talks to them for me, however I will try and find a way to talk to Nintendo USA myself. I mean I doubt they would want to ban a educational game that is non violent, where to profits are going to help stop another genocide, this isn't just about the war this game, it's to try and teach children something so they don't end up racist.
I seriously don't think Nintendo will ban the game once I get to show it to them, I think also the reason they were shocked is because alten8 deals with Nintendo Europe and well they haven't even talked to Nintendo Europe yet about it since well they are scared that it pisses them off. I am currently developing the game no matter what people say, and I will let alot of people test the game before I even consider it finished, it needs to be PERFECT or I won't release it.

Hoewel de overheid anders denkt, zijn er games die de gamesindustrie te ver gaan. Nintendo weigert namelijk de game Imagination is the Only Escape uit te brengen in Europe en Amerika. De reden is dat het concept van de game veel te gevoelig ligt. In de game speel je een Joods jongetje in het door Nazi-Duitsland bezette Frankrijk. De enige manier voor de jongen om de gruwelen van de Holocaust te ontwijken is in zijn fantasie.
Ontwikkelaar Luc Bernard die zelf Joods is en wiens oma nog voor Joodse wezen heeft gezorgd tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog, lijkt vooral een statement te willen maken met de game. Hij doet er namelijk niet moeilijk over om de meest gruwelijke weetjes uit de jaren '40 weer op te halen. Zo staat er op één van de screenshots van de game te lezen:
"1.5 million children were murdered during the Holocaust. More than 1.2 million Jewish children, tens of thousands of Gypsy children and thousands of institutionalised handicapped children,"
Hoewel Nintendo dus niet mee wil werken aan de game, kijken andere organisaties er juist positief tegenover. De Amerikaanse Anti-Defamation League is juist er blij met de game en de boodschap die deze uitdraagt.
