THQ loert in glazen bol en ziet console verkopen

De grote Amerikaanse uitgever THQ kwam naast de financi�le cijfers en een aankondiging van een nieuwe Red Faction game ook met schattingen over de verkopen van de verschillende next-gen consoles en handhelds in 2007.

Allereerst Noord-Amerika:

Console	Verkopen in miljoenen
Xbox 360	5 - 5,5
Wii	5 - 5,5
PlayStation 3	3,5 - 4
DS	7 - 7,5
PSP	3 - 3,5

Vervolgens PAL (EU + Oceani�):

Console	Verkopen in miljoenen
Xbox 360	2,5 - 3
Wii	3,5 - 4
PlayStation 3	3,5 - 4
DS	5,5 - 6
PSP	2,5 - 3

Het mag duidelijk zijn dat THQ verwacht dat Nintendo zal zegevieren, weinig verrassend in de handheld arena, maar ook in de console arena. THQ ziet verder een grote rol weggelegd voor haar als 3rd party op de Nintendo platforms, zoals onderstaande quote van THQ President Brian Farrell onderschrijft:
"Our product portfolio has always aligned well with Nintendo's platforms. Similar to our successful migration of GBA sales to the DS platform, we expect to grow our share on the Wii as we migrate our number one Game Cube independent market share to that platform. We currently have 11 Wii titles scheduled for release in fiscal 2008."

Ook zei Farrell dat THQ een kleine voorkeur heeft voor de Wii ten opzichte van de PS3:
"Nintendo has always been a very, very strong platform for us. I think you should be thinking about Wii as incrementally more positive for us than PS3"
