Doelman Vorm beëindigt voetbalcarrière
Michel Vorm heeft zijn carrière in het betaalde voetbal beëindigd. Voor de doelman komt daarmee een einde aan een loopbaan van vijftien jaar.
De inmiddels 37-jarige Vorm kreeg zijn opleiding bij de jeugd van FC Utrecht. Bij die club tekende hij in 2005 een profcontract. In zijn eerste seizoen werd hij nog verhuurd aan Eerste Divisie-club FC Den Bosch, maar daarna was hij de eerste keus in Utrecht, al miste hij in 2007/8 een groot deel van het seizoen door een schouder- en knieblessure.
In de zomer van 2011 maakte hij een transfer naar Swansea City. Bij de Premier League-club speelde hij in drie seizoenen 89 wedstrijden. Vervolgens ging hij aan de slag bij Tottenham Hotspur maar bij de Londense club was hij de tweede doelman en kwam hij maar tot 13 optredens. Sinds afgelopen zomer zat hij zonder club.
Tussen 2008 en 2014 was hij reservedoelman bij het Nederlands elftal en maakte in die rol het WK van 2010 en 2014 en het EK van 2012 mee. Met Oranje-onder 21 werd hij Europees kampioen.

Besides the talent of players and coaches, I also had the privilege to know the person behind them. To each of one of you: Thank you!! Thank you for the joy of playing, the (life) lessons, support, trust and achieving the goals together. To the fans: Thank you! Keep supporting, even though we live in a time that it becomes difficult to support the club and that it has to be done on a distance, but no matter the distance trust me that as a player you fans give us the energy to make the impossible, possible.
