Heel veel info Dragon Age: Inquisition

Hier komt een stortvloed aan informatie over Dragon Age: Inquisition. Er is een walkthrough van drie kwartier, achtergrondinformatie en Cassandra Pentaghast.

Eerst even wat technische puntjes.

Skyhold, the base of operations:

  •     Skyhold will be the player’s base of operations
  •     The customization of Skyhold is immense, ranging from bed sheets and huge statues to a throne.
  •     Players can find additional customizations for Skyhold through exploring the world or upgrades can be attained via quest rewards.
  •     Skyhold will change throughout the game as you progress. At the start it is still broken down, yet it keeps progressing into the amazing place it is in the video. It is important to note that Skyhold in the video above is just half way finished by the player.
  •     The upgrades in skyhold are not tied to in game perks, as the developer did not want people to feel forced to upgrade in a certain way for a specific class.
  •     The player starts off with only a few merchants in Skyhold. As they progress, more merchants will join the fortress or some may even leave, depending on a player’s decisions.
  •     Different rooms will have specific purposes, for example the library will be where players can do research and unlock information about creatures in the world.
  •     Skyhold has a deep and dark dungeon, including a prison section.
  •     Skyhold has a garden in which players can plant seeds, which come in the rare and common varieties. These seeds are earned via quests, exploration and more. The garden, just like other areas of Skyhold, is upgradable. Plants can later be harvest to further the player’s alchemy.

Crafting:

  •     Alchemy has three different subcategories namely Potions, Tonics and Grenades.
  •     Tonics include poisons, such as Tears of the Dead.
  •     These can be upgraded by finding different, rare crafting materials.
  •     Some of these rare materials have quite interesting names, such as “Jar of bees”
  •     There is a wide variety of weapons and armor types to be crafted, for example a greatsword or a mace.
  •     Different parts of an item can be crafted individually, such as a hilt for a weapon.
  •     Colorful effects can be added to an item.
  •     Item stats can be manipulated and given to followers, for example creating an item with a ton of strength and constitution for a warrior type character.
  •     Some items are masterworks, which mean a player can further enhance the item.
  •     Special abilities can be added to masterwork items, from straight forward enhancements such as “increasing maximum stamina by 10” to more bizarre enhancements such as 10% chance of applying “Walking bomb” for 5 seconds, that detonates for 75% weapon damage.

Operational Wartable:

  •     Depending on the quest, Wartables will look different.
  •     The Wartable went through 20 iterations throughout the development process.
  •     Players can select a specialist best suited to do the job via the Wartable. Sending a specialist to go on the quest will give players some nice rewards, including gold and loot.
  •     Each quest on the Wartable takes a specific amount of time to complete. The example shown takes 20 minutes.

Gameplay in the open world:

  •     Fighting in the world is dangerous. A player can encounter enemies that are much stronger than their current character, resulting in a quick death of one or more party members.
  •     Use of potions and character defensive abilities are required in order to slay large foes.
  •     Eight potions total can be carried at a time.
  •     Restocking potions at a camp is important before setting off into the world.
  •     The tactical camera while paused can be moved quite a far way away from a party, giving the player more than enough information to position his/her party correctly.
  •     Information on effects on enemies that are shown is in depth, from negative buffs such as chilled or sundered to a wealth of resistance buffs including cold resistance and physical immunity.
  •     Weaknesses are also shown, such as fire vulnerability, giving the player the tactical information needed to take it down.
  •     Dispel ability is crucial in combat against enemies with barriers up, especially against mages.
  •     Looting enemies sometimes gives crafting materials. These materials have a range of stats and acts differently in various slots. For example, a great bear hide has 1.75% critical strike chance in the offensive slot or 3.5% cold damage resistance in the defensive slot.

De gameplayvideo van drie kwartier is een livestream van Bioware. Ze gebruikten een Xbox One. Het draait dus op 900p en 30 fps.
